Just who in the heck is this Justin Saragueta? E-mail

Just who in the heck is this Justin Saragueta, a guy known by most as simply Gueta? Well, that seems to be one of those elusive quandaries that stays as close and as a far away as some simplistic complexity tinged in a swiss cheese shadow dancing in the shade at high noon! What can I say…you asked for it!

Singer, lyricist, guitarist, arranger, poet, novelist and for those of us who know him, conveyor of deep seeded human deliberation and emotion. At first glance, possibly the boy next door? After a few minutes of conversation…a universal soul drawing energies to him-self as if magnetized!

Justin’s unique upbringing as a first born Basque American, loose to no rules, open eyes and non-conformingly curious disposition have flowered into artistic integrity dancing with original thought feeling and passion which can be seen heard and most importantly felt in his dynamic guitar playing, velvety singing of un-rivaled compositions and writing of his captivatingly well thought-out books short stories and poetry.

Educated in the States with a degree in the arts, Justin quickly became aware of the most compelling thing ever taught or handed to us in this life…choice! For every breath, thought, action or reaction is a choice, some pseudo plan chipping away at the marble slab quietly awaiting its destined form. Only when one realizes who she or he is, when one comprehends, has the vision to allow the marble to form itself, can one let things unfold naturally. And so the story goes!

In 2002 the day came when Gueta couldn’t fight it or himself anymore! Arm wrestling Goliath seems effortless in comparison to the stubbornness of some situations! So Gueta finally listened emphatically to that intuitive voice clawing at his insides. He sold all his worldly possessions, bought an around the world plane ticket, a $100 guitar- post taxes, and started writing his first novel, ‘A Life too Important to Take Seriously’. The creative dam didn’t just break, it exploded!

The past six years have found Gueta traveling the world with guitar, empty pockets, pen, empty pockets, ink deprived tabs of paper, empty pockets, running shoes, empty pockets, a metaphorically cracked surfboard, empty pockets, hungry soul, empty pockets, an imagination demanding center stage and…you guessed it! Empty pockets! How can one write, be saturated with philosophy, truly understand and convey deep seeded human emotion without experience? So many of us simply exist, wait for the next television show instead of creating and fulfilling our own dreams! Existing is a choice! Dreaming is a choice! Making dreams an existing tangible reality is also a CHOICE!

Justin has currently written over seventy songs, more poems than one should ever be forced to count and has also accomplished creating and finishing four books:

‘A Life too Important to Take Seriously’

‘Adventures of Gueta and Pickle Relish’

‘Pomegranate Poetry’

‘Emotions in a Box of Crayons’

CHOICE!

When it is all said and done, at day’s end, if you were to ask Gueta he would let you know that the music inside of him has bullied its’ way to the front of the priority list! Once you have heard him you’ll understand why he has been fondly embraced while soulfully playing riveting performances in places such as Australia, London, Scotland, Spain, Indonesia, Fiji and of course here in the States- just to name a few! It’s seems for Gueta life has become about unplugging from the societal norm so he can chase the search for inner understanding. The best way he knows how to do this is through song, poem, short story and novel! A CHOICE that for the rest of us is a real blessing!
